Tryta bench from IKEA (£5 with an Ikea family card). Legs sawn down to make the stool the right height

Piece of foam from Ebay shop £6 plus £3 delivery (offcut, cut to size proved too expensive)

I cut the foam to size using a bread knife, I don’t have a craft knife 8cm long (who does?). I wrapped the foam in quilt wadding, for a bit of extra squish (the foam is quite sturdy in order to make the seat last longer).

I made a cover from some nondescript fabric from a small fabric shop on Turnpike Lane £2.50 metre I think. I didnt put a zip in, as this will be the  inner cushion eventually.

Result – goes very well with the good old Ikea Poang chair, and with the current “interim” sofa, kindly provided by ma & pa. It also has customisation potential. When it’s available, I’m thinking about using my friend Suzie’s hexagon footstool cover pattern as a basis for a cover
